![]() ![]() DR2.0 also has better physics, better graphics, a better repairs system (and an optional "hardcore" damage mode), Dirtfish, time trial ghosts, and many other improvements. So among you and your friends, only one of you could buy the DLC and you could all play it as long as being reliant on the host isn't an issue for you. Overall I would recommend DR2.0, especially if you can buy the DLC, but even if you can't, because you can potentially still play the DLC you don't own by joining someone's multiplayer lobby who does own the DLC. It's a little buggy but it doesn't bother me personally. I would say DR2.0 has a much better multiplayer system if you're playing with people you know, but if you just want to hop in a lobby and do some anonymous racing I would say DR1.0 is almost better because there's much less waiting between races.Īlso, DR1.0 has ACAT, an unofficial mod that lets you play any track with any car in multiplayer, so you can rally together and it's actually genuinely more fun that DR2.0 to me because you can see each other. Havent tried multiplayer (Ill be honest I dont even really know how DiRT Rally MP works, Ive played both games singleplayer). ![]() * Höljes and Hell are included in DR2.0 and Lydden Hill is available as DLC in DR2.0.įor rally it's a similar story - the same number of rally stages in the base game (12圆=72), but more available as DLC in DR2.0 (all of the current DLC locations are included in DR1.0). Unlike other games in the series, there is no real tutorial involved, and if it is your first time playing a Dirt game, you are going to struggle in the beginning. DR2.0 has 5 more rallycross circuits available as DLC (for £3 each), as well as more car classes to choose from (Crosskart, RX2, and Group B RX (as DLC), versus Classic Rallycross in DR1.0). Dirt 2.0 is most definitely geared towards fans of the Dirt series as well as Rallycross racing fans. Both DR1.0 and DR2.0 have the same number of rallycross circuits in the base game, but in DR2.0 it's spread out over 8 different locations while in DR1.0 it's 8 circuits in 3 locations (Lydden Hill, Höljes, and Hell*).

We won’t get it back – protect it, experience it, be with it – fully, be in it, hold open with it – feel it.We love celebrating people’s hard work, personal achievements, and professional growth. I hope we continue to protect our time, and our space and value it as much as we value other aspects of life. What has come up there? How have we received this time, this space? What if we never get this opportunity again – will we miss it? Did we allow ourselves to become slower, and stiller and to listen better? ![]() This past year has been an opportunity to suddenly be given all of this time, and space – that we never asked for – but that we now have. When we create or are born into a life that is filled to the brim with doing, and acting, and wanting and believing – how do we know what is really beneath all of that? When we never take, or are given, the opportunity to slow down and really ask what it is that is important – and what matters we slowly find ourselves further and further away from the answers. Space to open up into a wider, emptier and freer sense of ourselves – and listen to what lies within this. Time to distill our worlds down, to distill our needs and wants down, to distill our desires down. What would a capitalist society be without its population forever needing and wanting and striving to be a better, more beautiful, richer, more powerful version of themselves? Not much – so it needs us to feel lack and discontentment in order to strive. Time and space are like non renewal aspects of life – yet we are taught to give them up so freely, and with that we loose so much of both and we can’t get them back. Two of the greatest gifts are: time and space – and health. This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t use your knife! Chemical reactions happen everywhere, and are nothing to worry about.Ī patina usually forms when subject to an acidic medium. In the presence of air and limited water, it is therefore possible for corrosion to occur on your blade, forming a patina.Ĭarbon Steel is very sensitive to many environmental factors: acidity, moisture, salts… As soon as you touch a knife, you are already affecting the chemistry of the blade. Patinas can form in similar, but milder conditions than rust. You will rarely encounter a patina on a Stainless Steel knife, However, they can form quite easily on a Carbon Steel knife, due to the lack of Chromium. This is because Stainless Steel blades contain Chromium, which makes them resistant to all kinds of corrosion. Make sure you deal with it appropriately! ![]() If you see these orange stains, it’s rust, not patina. Here’s a guide to help you Remove Rust from your Knife. Rust can damage your knife and is not the most attractive thing to have on your blade, so make sure you get rid of it quickly. So if you come across orange or red stains, it’s not a patina. Patina usually consists of black or grey stains. This can cause variation in their thickness, the color, the hue, and the overall aesthetic appeal! However, patinas can have a range of chemical compositions (involving other oxides, carbonates, and sulfates). However, rust has the formula Fe 2O 3, while the most common form of patina you’ll encounter on knives is Fe 3O 4. So what is the actual difference between patina and rust?įirstly, the chemistry behind each is a bit different… Both compounds are a form of Iron Oxide. Just like rust, patina affect Carbon Steel more than Stainless Steel. Just like rust, a patina is a form of metal corrosion and will cause stains and marks on the blade. In other word, it a patina usually represents the aging of a blade. The word ‘patina’ is also used to describe the discoloration and the accumulation of the changes in texture and appearance of the blade over time. ![]() Magnetite, the mild form of oxidation that gives a blade a patina, is the substance responsible for the charcoal grey discoloration. Patinas can also contain many other substances, including other oxides, sulfates, and carbonates. The most common type of patina causes a black/grey stain on the blade and has the chemical formula Fe 3O 4. It is a layer of Iron Oxide, formed from the oxidation of the Iron in your Steel blade by the Oxygen of the air. Patina, on knife blades, is a type of corrosion. Let’s have a closer look at how patinas form and what you can do to either force one onto your blade or get rid of it. A patina can form naturally or be forced onto the metal. It is a type of corrosion that can make a knife basically rust-proof in the long term and will change the appearance of the blade. So I did a bit of research, and here’s what I found.Ī Patina is a thin layer that forms on the surface of a metal over time (the blade). It surprised me because I actually didn’t know anything about it! Advantages include low-odor (no vinegar smell), easy clean-up, and color consistency.I was playing around carving wood with my pocket knife the other day and I noticed strange stains on the knife’s Carbon Steel blade.Īfter googling what could cause it, I came across the word ‘patina’. The water-based Varathane Weathered Wood Interior Accelerator creates a silvery color, much like the vinegar treatment. Pre-Mixed Accelerators: If you prefer to purchase a pre-mixed weathering agent, a number of paint and stain manufacturers sell weathered wood accelerators. After drying, the wood will develop an attractive gray color, much like old pallet wood. Then, drop the steel wool into the bottle and leave in the sun for a day. Tear a chunk of steel wool in half to fray the ends. First, fill the spray bottle halfway with white vinegar. Vinegar and Steel Wool: Creating a silvery hue is easy. This will cause sections of the wood to absorb stain at different rates. ![]() Since this is not a realistic weathered effect, first lightly mist the wood with water from the spray bottle. Water and Stain: When you apply stain directly to dry wood, the resulting color is more or less consistent. The Spruce Home Improvement Review Board. I have my logic with why it made sense, but it didn’t help us with our start, obviously. Not starting with my normal lines for Game 5. What game that is, that’s debatable and that’s hindsight. “But the two things that came to mind are, I’ve already talked about the toll on the goaltenders and going to Sway a little earlier. “Specifically, in hindsight you can go back and look at everything,” said Montgomery. Montgomery took both a micro and macro overview of what he perceived as his failures. And that in the end is what made me decide that he was our goaltender for Game 6.” And what he relayed to me made me believe that you learn and grow and he was ready to grow and lead us to a Game 6 win. I personally spoke with Linus and he answered me a real honest question and took ownership of where he was at in Game 5. And in the end, he wins Games 3 and 4, so you have two days off, you think Game 5’s going to go well. I will talk in the playoffs even more with Sweens and Cam (Neely). “It’s not Goalie Bob’s decision, but I really rely on him heavily … we discuss this as a staff. I’m the one that picks the starter,” said Montgomery. ![]() But he made it clear on Tuesday that, though the decision is made collectively, the buck stops with him. Throughout the year when both Ullmark and Swayman were on their way to winning the Jennings Trophy as the best goalie tandem, Montgomery was willing to give goalie coach Bob Essensa the credit for picking his goalie on a nightly basis. And I think we are going to learn from this, everybody, players, especially me, I’m going to learn and I’m going to have to help the players push through, which I didn’t do this year.” The expectations that were put on our team going into the playoffs, there’s a price you pay. That’s what I learned through this grind. “There’s an added mental grind in the playoffs and it takes a toll. ![]() “In hindsight, absolutely,” said Montgomery. Was there regret in not going with Jeremy Swayman before he did? Sweeney – who made a point of saying the failure was a collective effort – said that whatever physical issue was bothering the netminder, the management and coaching staff received daily medical reports on Ullmark and they were comfortable with letting him play, from a physical standpoint.īut regardless if he was physically capable of playing, Ullmark clearly was not playing at the Vezina-caliber level that he’d played at during the regular season. Whether or not that puts Montgomery on the hot seat as soon as training camp opens in September with a roster to be named later, the coach willingly dove into the white heat that was waiting for him.įirst up was his decision to stick with goalie Linus Ullmark until Game 7. Maybe that was an oversight, but it felt telling. ![]() ![]() At one point, CEO Charlie Jacobs praised the job of his management team – president Cam Neely and GM Don Sweeney – for the job they did in putting together the 65-win team, but the kudos did not extend to the coach. Pick any and all synonyms for “anguished” and the Bruins braintrust was still feeling it on Tuesday, more than a week after the record-setting team was shockingly bounced from the playoffs in the first round.īut in speaking to reporters at the Legends club in the Garden for the first time since that fateful Sunday night, it was clear that the harshest and most unenviable spotlight was on coach Jim Montgomery. ![]() “The guys I use live are all friends from L.A.,” Sgah’gahsowáh explained. To accomplish that, Sgah’gahsowáh reached out to Eduardo “EDO” Mora, who runs the Los Angeles-based, all-indigenous Night of the Palemoon black metal label. Since Blackbraid is a solo affair in the studio, Sgah’gahsowáh had to assemble a band for these performances. On June 15, in what he describes as an “I made it moment,” Blackbraid will be playing on the same bill as Kiss at HellFest just outside of Paris, France. His current tour is sponsored by Metal Blade Records and Decibel Magazine, key brands in the metal world, and features major black metal acts Dark Funeral and Cattle Decapitation as headliners. He had wanted to keep Blackbraid as a studio project and until recently, continued to turn down shows until he received offers he couldn’t refuse. Sgah’gahsowáh’s workload continues to increase. Orchestrating everything, from the store, shipping, recording, it’s very hard to not just work.” Blackbraid is my baby and on my mind 24/7. “I thought, ‘Oh man, I’m a career musician now, life is going to be so great.’ It’s so much more stressful than working 40 hours a week. “It’s still definitely extremely stressful I quit my job around this time last year as a carpenter - building houses, doing handyman stuff - as Blackbraid became substantial income,” Sgah’gahsowáh added. She handles the merchandise, design elements, really spearheaded the business side. She’s the other half of Blackbraid and makes everything functional. We’re in a very unique position where me and my wife handle everything a label would do. “I’ve turned down every metal label under the sun and I’m really sticking by being independent,” he said. Much like he didn’t expect music to become his primary occupation, Sgah’gahsowáh didn’t know that maintaining it was going to be quite so intense. Blackbraid business is a two-person enterprise he handles the music end of the operation, while his wife manages the logistics and “makes sure everything runs smoothly.” He’s an independent artist, unsigned by a record label and looking to keep it that way. I’m in my 30s and, until now, I had never planned on doing music for a career.”Īnd it’s definitely become a full-time career for Sgah’gahsowáh. Now there’s this tour, which is really wild. Then it ended up being number one on Bandcamp for quite some time, it was insane. ![]() It was supposed to be a side endeavor that I’d put on Bandcamp, maybe print some CDs. “I was messing around on some instrumentals and liked them so much, I knew I wanted to do a full album. “By summer 2020, music was more a hobby at that point,” he continued.
